Bespoke tailoring was once considered an unattainable luxury for most men. Today, a new generation of clothiers is disrupting the garment industry and making Bespoke accessible for Calgarians. We recently met with Rachel Fugate, Executive Clothier of LGFG Fashion House to talk about the rise of Bespoke garments in YYC.
Has Bespoke fashion always been popular in Calgary? Or is it gaining traction lately?
Bespoke has been available in Calgary, but not necessarily as accessible to the public as it is now. Here at LGFG, we offer the highest quality Bespoke garments and convenience. Our garments are made in the UK, but our local clothiers bring high-quality production right into our clients’ offices. By connecting on a personal level with our clients, we get to know exactly what they’re looking for. We choose fabrics, measure them, and our UK team cuts patterns to our specifics. It’s an amazing team and system that makes our garments unique and sought after. Who doesn’t like service that comes to them and delivers a top of the line product at a competitive price?
What makes the LGFG experience so special?
Bespoke is luxurious. Anyone can head out and find a suit online or off the rack. Since LGFG creates garments from scratch, each suit is completely unique. Our clients choose every detail from fabric, to liners, to style details. We are very upfront with our cost. Bespoke fashion from LGFG is competitive with other high end brands, and if you are already purchasing suits from reputable stores, there will be nothing
surprising here.
Some clients prefer to meet in their homes because they have an extensive collection of suits. We can work with them to coordinate newly made garments into their existing wardrobe. What do you think has stopped men from going Bespoke rather than retail?
Some men don’t realize that Bespoke is even an option. They may have found a “good enough” fit off the rack and are creatures of habit. What they don’t realize is that they are missing out on tremendous convenience. We guarantee our fit and make any alterations that need to be done locally. Once we have your measurements on file, we can reorder future suits with the click of a button. Plus, having a personal tailor who’s willing to come to your office and help you sort out exactly what you’re looking for is a luxury that our clients have earned! Our clients are hardworking guys and deserve fine, tailored clothing.
Trends for Spring/Summer 2018?
We are seeing some great, bold blues out there right now. We love vests for spring, so convenient in the warmer months to take off your jacket and still look sharp. For our bolder clients, hounds tooth has made a strong comeback. Also, don’t forget your pocket squares!
