Local Love I wish we could go to one of our fav local restaurants for dinner this week! I know I’m not the only one who definitely took that for granted my whole life. But I am still holding on to the belief that this won’t last forever, and we will all come out better.
Slower mindsets, better conversations, more meaningful relationships and a better understanding of mental health. I hope we can all come out of this with a greater respect for Mother Nature, and a greater sense of gratitude for our lives once things get back to ‘the new normal’. There are still lots of ways you can support all of our local shops out there. Gift Cards, curb-side pick ups, online orders etc. 

Now that the weather is warming up, it’s easier to spend time at home with all the spring clean-up on the horizon. Soak in those rays and get that vitamin D!

Stay safe out there friends and try and keep smiling ❤️

To all the deserving, amazing, wonderful mother’s out there,
Happy Mother’s Day…

I think we can all agree, that ‘MOM’ is a position just above Queen. Here’s to spoiling all the mom’s on May 10, and honestly, every day of the year because they sure do deserve it.

1. CREATE A SCHEDULE Allocate strict time stamps on certain tasks during the day. Segment your hours in a day for breakfast/morning coffee, getting ready, work, breaks, personal time (reading a book, gardening), exercise, meal prepping and social connection via phone calls or Zoon meetings. Having a routine during this uncertain time will make your days more productive and goal setting will help accomplish your to-do’s.

2. CHANGE YOUR DESKTOP PICTURE Something as simple as changing the wallpaper on your computer background can be a nice refresh to the monotony that quarantined life is giving us. Change to a past vacation photo, or a special life event that brings great memories, or change it up to a travel destination you’ve always wanted to go to.

3. DRESS UP AND SHOW UP While lounging in your pjs and comfies all day may seem ideal, it’s easy to fall into a schlump, feel unmotivated and lack productivity. Dressing up for a day ‘at the office’ while working from home is proven to increase morale, make you feel better and more confident.

4. HAVE A DEDICATED ‘WORK’ SPACE Setting up a dedicated work station will help divide the work hours and the personal family time. These lines sometimes get blurred while working from home. Having a separated desk where work commences helps you step away from the office, so to speak.

5. CREATE OFFICE AMBIANCE Surrounding yourselves with tools that help you feel productive can work wonders:
– Diffuse some essential oils: peppermint, sweet orange and rosemary all help decrease fatigue and increase focus.
– Install white boards and cork boards: keep track of your to-do’s, make an inspiration mood board and feel satisfied by crossing out as you accomplish!
– Put on a playlist! Music is known to help work productivity and brain retention, so pop on your Spotify playlists and get workin!

Now that the weather is warming up, it’s spring clean up time!  Keep in mind, it’s not unusual to get snow mid May, so hold off on planting those flowers, or if you do, be prepared for some colder temperatures and protect them from frost.

Here’s some quick tips and tricks for Spring cleaning prep, inside and outside of your home!

1. Your Doormats: To refresh, hose off and air-dry mats. Vacuum indoor ones on both sides — going over the back will push trapped dirt out onto the floor where it will be easier to pick up.

2. Your Windows: Wait for an overcast day and start on the shady side of the house, as direct sun can lead to streaks. “Raise blinds or shades and wash windows with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth,” says Carolyn Forte, Director of the Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute. “Then lower the blinds and vinyl shades and dust with a duster like Swiffer and finish by vacuuming fabric shades and drapes.”

3. Your Fridge: You probably wipe down your fridge’s interior shelving on the regular already, but don’t forget about the rest. Pop out the door shelves and bins, and wash in warm, soapy water to get rid of food bacteria and spillage.

4. Tiled Surfaces: Marty Hoffman of Hoffman Brothers Floors suggests cleaning bathroom and kitchen tiles with a cleaner that has “neutral pH” on the label. You can also mix baking soda and water for a homemade cleaner: Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into 2 gallons water and mix very well. Then apply the liquid with a string mop or sponge mop. For grout, use the same baking soda and water mixture, but for tough stains, call in the pros.

5. Carpets: You’re going to love this: According to Paul Iskyan, owner of Rug Renovating, less-trafficked areas of your carpet only have to be cleaned once or twice a year, and every 18 months for a bedroom. For higher-traffic areas, the most often you’d need to bring in professionals would be three or four times a year, although once you see that your carpet’s dirty, you probably should have it cleaned for health reasons.

6. Outside: Rain gutters, fences, patio pressure washes, exterior wall clean-up, patio furniture washes, garden bed clean up, garage clean-outs, while it may seem like a never-ending list, take it in stride  and enlist the help of your family members. Or, hire a local company to assist. Let’s make use of outdoor season this year, I feel like we’ll be outside a lot this summer!
